Fans of Burna Boy bemoaned the singer’s late arrival to his Lagos gig on Sunday night.
Angry guests flocked to Twitter to criticize the musician for starting his performance late at the ‘Love Damini Concert’ event.
According to attendees, the performance began at 9 p.m. and Burna Boy did not appear on stage until around 3 a.m.
“You queue for six hours for fuel; still stand six hours for Burna Boy,” tweeted entertainment commentator Joey Akan. Life is difficult!”
@ade adeayo tweeted a video from the event, saying, “The scenario on the ground. It’s almost 2 a.m., and Burna Boy’s show has yet to begin.
“Some have been here since 9 p.m. This is beyond bad and unethical for an artist with the highest level of international exposure.”
“The band is playing, and Burna Boy appears on stage at 3:30,” the tweep posted as an update.
“Everything is forgiven, and the audience applauds. There was no lesson learned. Guys, good night and happy new year.
“And, by the way, there was no apology. He even claimed it was out of goodwill, with Seyi Vibez appealing for him to stay at the venue.”
Burna Boy lashed out at fans who attended his show in Lagos on Sunday after his appearance, recounting how he was accused of killing someone in the club in August 2022.
The singer added that if it hadn’t been for another musician, Seyi Vibes, he would have gone home.
“If no be Seyi Vibes, I for just don dey go house,” he remarked in Pidgin English. But I’m here with una, and after you don’t talk, say I kill people for Cubana, and after una doesn’t talk, say my mama dance for Fela.”
The musician delivered his hit songs to the waiting audience, who cheered him despite their prior disapproval.
