Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the immediate-past governor of Rivers State, has discussed how he was poisoned in 2018 at the PDP campaign headquarters in the State and suffered liver and renal failure, but that God granted him victory over those who stood up to him.

The former governor claimed a hospital in Beirut, Lebanon, diagnosed him with multiple organ failure. He told how, on a fateful Sunday in December 2018, he was scheduled to attend the thanksgiving program of Chief Emeka Woke, his then chief of staff, but was unable to do so because, in his words, he had been poisoned.

At the family thanksgiving ceremony held in his honor on Sunday at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Rumuepirikom Deanery of the Diocese of Niger Delta North, Wike gave a speech.
