The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Sokoto State, Mallam Saidu Umar, has visited with citizens of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states who live in Sokoto State as part of his ongoing engagements with locals.
Umar stated that the major goal of the meeting with the inhabitants was to reassure them of a fresh start under the incoming PDP administration. The meeting was held under the auspices of Akwa-Cross, a coalition of groups of stakeholders from the two states.
He added that the PDP is prepared for its mission to consolidate the accomplishments of the current administration in the state and is positioned to retake the country’s center.
If elected, he promised that his administration will administer an inclusive government that would ensure equal opportunity for all Sokoto State inhabitants, regardless of tribe, religion, or political party.
Nigeria belongs to everyone, he continued, therefore there is no justification for prejudice. He insisted that the PDP was the way to go if other resident communities in Sokoto and Nigeria were to continue prospering.
Mallam Umar claims that his personality, along with the contacts he had with people from various regions of Nigeria, has given him the necessary understanding to handle the issues of the non-indigenous groups in Sokoto State.
He promised that he would continue the current administration’s efforts to ascertain their needs and desires.
He continued, “I will do everything necessary to ensure that Sokoto State continues to flourish and shine.
He reflected on his friendship with Mr. Uwem Essien, an accomplished son of Akwa Ibom State, and other classmates from secondary school, which finally developed into an enduring bond.
He claimed that because of his familiarity with his previous coworkers across Nigeria, he felt at home everywhere he went. The candidate for governor vowed to fulfill his commitment to the growth of Sokoto State.
The meeting’s facilitator, Mr. Uwem Essien, urged the Akwa-Cross movement in Sokoto to cast a large number of PDP votes in the upcoming elections. He reassured them that his 40-year friend would never fail them.
The Presidents of Akwa-Cross promised the PDP governorship candidate in his statements that the PDP would receive the support of Akwa-young Cross’s and old, men and women.
