Oba Francis Alao, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon in Oyo State’s Surulere Local Government Area, has endorsed Governor Seyi Makinde’s candidacy for reelection, claiming the governor has done a good job thus far.

Oba Alao reaffirmed his appeal for the transfer of presidential power from the North to the South in 2023 during a live radio interview on Fresh FM’s Political Circuit.

The traditional leader noted that Makinde had exhibited good character, a quality that distinguishes effective leadership.

The traditional chief claimed he did not cast a ballot or support Makinde in the 2019 election, but claimed that the governor called him soon after taking office to work with his administration to advance the state.

“I will continue to support Seyi Makinde’s administration. Character and morality are the cornerstones of leadership. Despite the fact that I did not cast a vote for Makinde in the 2019 election, he greeted us and said, “Kabiyesi, come. Let’s do this government together.” Governance is all about how you can generate ideas together.

“In the local government areas of Oriire, Surulere, and Ogo Oluwa, we supported the APC wholeheartedly in 2019 and voted for it. I traveled everywhere urging people to support APC.

“However, I can assure you that due to Makinde’s sterling character and leadership in government, I will cast my support for him in the governorship race in 2023. Expectations have been met by his administration.

“All of my topics are other governorship candidates from different parties. My younger brother is named Bayo Adelabu. Teslim Folarin, who is also my brother, and I share a special bond. However, Makinde will have my backing and that of my citizens in 2023.

However, he added, “For the presidential race, we will support a candidate from the South because I am a supporter of equity, justice, and fairness.

After the North had held power for eight years, the royal father claimed there would be no rationale for another Fulani guy to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
