The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, convened a high-stakes meeting with the state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chukwuemeka Aaron and Chief Tony Okocha, on Monday morning.
Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the meeting in a Facebook post, highlighting the minister’s efforts to consolidate political alliances.
The gathering comes after the Tanimu Turaki-led PDP faction in Rivers State recently dissolved its structure, merging into the Aaron Chukwuemeka-led faction and pledging loyalty to Wike. The alignment was publicly acknowledged last Friday during Wike’s visit to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
Currently, Wike is touring all 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State, seeking to reclaim and strengthen the state’s political landscape in preparation for the 2027 elections.
