-Lawyer Raises Doubts Over Tinubu’s Peace Deal in Rivers
Says Wike May Still Make Governor Fubara’s Life Miserable

Activist lawyer and public affairs commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has cast doubt over the sustainability of the recent peace pact brokered by President Bola Tinubu between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, warning that the truce may collapse.

President Tinubu had convened a high-level meeting on Thursday night with Fubara, Wike, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, in a bid to bring an end to the prolonged political crisis in the state.

Reports indicate that the President succeeded in getting all parties to commit to peace and cooperation. However, Adeyanju believes the reconciliation is only temporary.

In a post on his official Facebook page, the outspoken lawyer urged Governor Fubara to remain vigilant, insisting that Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), cannot be trusted.

“No matter the agreement you have with Wike, he will make your life miserable. Wike is an unreasonable man,” Adeyanju wrote.

“Fubara will not be able to sleep with two eyes closed, and 2027 will be worse. Even when Wike makes a vow, his vow is as useless as the ‘T’ in buffet.”

Adeyanju’s remarks come barely 24 hours after President Tinubu stepped in to mediate the bitter power tussle between Wike and his political godson, Fubara, a battle that has left Rivers State deeply divided and politically unstable for months.

Despite the president’s intervention, observers say deep-seated distrust and rivalry between the two leaders could reignite hostilities.

The Rivers political drama has attracted national attention, with many calling for democratic principles to be upheld and for undue interference in governance to end.
