Abuja-based public affairs analyst and legislative consultant, Akinloye Oyeniyi, has applauded the decisive security measures rolled out by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to rid the capital of criminal elements.
Oyeniyi’s commendation comes after Wike ordered the clearance of shanties and notorious hideouts across Abuja, a move aimed at curbing crime and creating a safer environment for residents and visitors.
The latest enforcement operations by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) saw the demolition of illegal structures, the impounding of vehicles, and the seizure of weapons from suspected criminals.
In a statement on Tuesday, Oyeniyi noted that Wike’s approach was not only revamping Abuja’s infrastructure but also safeguarding lives and property.
“Honestly, this recent commitment to improving FCT security is what everyone should commend the Minister and his team for. Yes, it is their job, but there is something called commendation when an official performs his duty well. In a long while, we have not had this,” he said.
Oyeniyi urged the minister to sustain the crackdown, stressing that consistent action was crucial to maintaining public safety and driving the capital’s development.
