Wolverhampton Wanderers announced on Friday that they had signed Gabonese midfielder Mario Lemina from Nice on a contract until 2025.
The 29-year-old, who previously played for Fulham and Southampton, returns to English football after appearing in 58 games for Nice since 2021.
“The transfer includes a 12-month option and comes after Lemina spent the first half of the season regularly playing for Ligue 1 side Nice,” Wolves said in a statement.
“Mario is a good player,” Wolves coach Julen Lopetegui told reporters earlier on Friday. We recognize him, and he wishes to be present.
“He is familiar with the English league and has the potential to be a good player for us… He knows what he’s doing.”
Lamina is Wolves’ second January signing, following Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha.
Wolves are currently 19th in the Premier League and will play West Ham on Saturday.
