Babatunji Wusu –

Depositors have been reassured by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) that their money in the banks is secure. The Federal Government should take over some financial institutions under the supervision of the Central Bank, according to claims the Central Bank has seen in several media publications.

“To be clear, Nigerian banks are still secure and stable,” the CBN stated in a statement that was approved by the interim director of corporate communications, Sidi-Ali Hakama.

The people was urged by the message to carry on with their daily routines without getting disturbed by unofficial claims regarding the state of Nigerian banks.

The apex bank is fully prepared, according to the statement, to fulfill its mandate to maintain a stable financial system in Nigeria.

“We guarantee depositors and the general public that their money is safe in Nigerian financial institutions.

Accordingly, bank clients are encouraged to carry on with their regular banking activities as there is no reason for alarm, the statement said.
