RedBird Capital Partners, a private investment firm, announced on Monday that former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has joined as an Operating Partner. He will also function as a Senior Advisor to AC Milan Ownership and Senior Management.
At the conclusion of the previous season, 42-year-old Ibrahimovic announced his retirement from competitive play in June. He had previously played for Manchester United, Paris St. Germain, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Los Angeles Galaxy.
Ibrahimovic will support RedBird’s investment portfolio in sports, media, and entertainment as an Operating Partner, working with the company’s worldwide investment team.
Ibrahimovic remarked, “I am really appreciative to be joining both RedBird and AC Milan in these significant and influential roles.”
“I’m excited to support their investment efforts in all of their media, entertainment, and sports properties.”
He will work for RedBird, the club’s owner, as a Senior Advisor at Milan. He will be heavily involved in both the sports and business aspects of the club’s operations, with a focus on player development and growing Milan’s international brand.
The Swede continued, “My love for the Rossoneri will never fade, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its future is something I could only have dreamed of.”
Giorgio Furlani, the CEO of Milan, also offered his thoughts on Ibrahimovic’s comeback to the team, which aided in their 2022 Serie A championship victory.
Furlani declared, “Adding a leader such as Ibra to AC Milan’s advisory board demonstrates our dedication to the club’s continued success for the good of our players and supporters.”
“We’re lucky to have Ibra’s innovative ideas and wide-ranging connections throughout European football at our disposal to further establish the club’s international profile.”
