In the Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State, the convoy of Abdul-Azeez Adediran alias Jandor, the PDP’s candidate for governor, was attacked in the Coker neighborhood of Aguda.

Three people were hurt during the attack on Friday by some alleged hoodlums who discharged weapons and wrecked some of the campaign cars in Adediran’s convoy.

Shortly before the attack, Jandor met with traders and other groups in the Surulere LGA along with a few party members and supporters.

However, the incident has been blamed on both the PDP and the current government’s All Progressives Congress.

Seye Oladejo, the spokesperson for the Lagos APC, said in a statement that was reported by Vanguard, “Our attention has been drawn to the terror unleashed on innocent and law-abiding citizens of Lagos state by the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Jide Adediran, otherwise known as Jandor, during his campaign in Surulere Local Government.

Three persons are said to have killed and other victims were injured as a result of the tragedy.

“We vehemently condemn the use of unjustified and unprovoked violence against the state’s residents in the name of electioneering.

“Jandor’s goons shot firearms at their helpless victims as they fled for their lives in broad daylight.”

Hakeem Amode, the Lagos PDP’s spokesperson, however, had charged the APC with funding thugs to attack Jandor’s convoy.

“The APC sponsored thugs in Surulere local government of Lagos state unleashed violence on persons and groups of people in the area ahead of the scheduled visitation of the PDP gubernatorial candidate to the ward on Thursday and Friday, in continuation of Jandor’s tour of the 245 wards in Lagos State,” Amode’s statement stated in part.

The thugs went to the Baale of Ojuoluwa in the LGA’s Empire neighborhood to intimidate him into not receiving the entourage that was supposed to pay him a courtesy visit.

“The gates leading into the entire imperial region were sealed, disrupting vehicular traffic.

“In the same spirit, the canopy and chairs set up at Iponri Housing Estate were savagely damaged by APC killer-thugs who were armed with hazardous weapons, including guns. Many of our members who were organizing the event were injured in the fight.”

On Saturday, our correspondent contacted Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, to get his thoughts.

Hundeyin provided a brief response to our correspondent’s questions, saying that no one was killed, but three people were hurt, and no arrests had been made.

Nobody is dead. Three victims. No arrest has been made yet, Hundeyin texted.

The most recent attack marks the third that Jandor’s convoy has endured recently.

Thugs attacked his campaign train at Badagry, Ikorodu, Agege, Kosofe, and Surulere, inflicting injuries on some of his supporters and causing property damage to vehicles.
