The Rivers Women Unite Organization has congratulated candidates unveiled by the Rainbow Coalition and commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for supporting political reconciliation in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The organisation expressed hope that the reconciliation would strengthen unity and ease political tension across the state.

Its Central Planning Committee made the position known in a statement signed by its Communications Officer, Comrade Glory Sunday, during its monthly prayer session in Port Harcourt on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The committee said it had consistently supported Governor Fubara’s decisions. However, it welcomed efforts by the governor and Wike to restore unity among political leaders. It added that sustained reconciliation could promote peace and cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, the committee announced that the 2026 Women Converge would hold on November 26 at the Main Bowl of the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre in Port Harcourt.

The annual interfaith gathering carries the theme, “The Woman in an Evolving World: Her Vision, Voice and Influence.”

Expected participants include women from different backgrounds, religious leaders and other stakeholders.

The programme will feature Rev. Prof. Mosy Madugba of the Ministers’ Prayer Network, Pastor Dr Eno Jerry Eze of the Women Prayer Network, Minister Preye Odede and gospel singer Chioma Jesus.

Also, the event will feature trade and skills exhibitions, prayers, praise, thanksgiving and special recognition for individuals who have made notable contributions to society.

The committee said participants would also pray for peace, growth and development in Rivers State, Nigeria and families across the country. It therefore invited residents of Rivers State and Nigerians from other parts of the country to attend the gathering.

The committee expressed confidence that the event would strengthen faith, unity and collective commitment to a peaceful and prosperous state.
