Former Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili, has dismissed reports alleging that he made disparaging remarks about the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule, and other political leaders.
In an official disclaimer, Odili described the publication as false, fabricated and malicious.
The statement, signed by his Media Adviser, Dr Emma Okah, accused the report’s author, Donald Lezua Degbara, of attributing comments to the former governor that he never made.
Odili stressed that neither he nor his media team issued the statements contained in the publication.
He urged members of the public, political stakeholders and media organisations to disregard the report.
According to the disclaimer, the publication represents an attempt by mischief-makers to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension in Rivers State.
The former governor also reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity and development in Rivers State and Nigeria. He called for responsible public communication and urged people not to spread statements falsely attributed to him.
The disclaimer comes amid political activities and disagreements involving key figures in Rivers State.
However, Odili maintained that he did not make the alleged remarks against Amaewhule or the other political leaders mentioned in the report.
