Commercial driver crushes six-year-old boy to death in Ondo

A commercial driver has crushed to death a six- year- old boy identified as Sunday Promise to death in Ikaram Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Wednesday .

It was learnt that an Abuja-Lagos bound Siena commercial bus belonging to Ever Ready Transport company with registration Edo 835 BEN, which was on high speed while transiting through the community, knocked down the victim.

According to eyewitnesses, Promise, a pupil of Muslim Primary School, Ikaram-Akoko died instantly while the driver of the bus drove away.

However, residents ran after him, caught  him at Ministry area of Agbaluku, Arigidi-Akoko a distance of about 15 kilometres from the accident scene at Ikaram-Akoko and was  he was handed over to the police with the vehicle impounded at the police station.

Also, in a telephone interview with the Ikare unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yinka Akande, attributed the accident to over speeding, particularly within the town

Akande  advised motorists to always slow down whenever they are passing through residential areas.
