After the Premier League’s top team’s 1-1 draw at Southampton, Gabriel Jesus urged his Arsenal colleagues to “wake up.”
At St. Mary’s, Granit Xhaka’s early goal gave the Gunners the lead, but Mikel Arteta’s team lost for just the second time this year as the Saints punished the Gunners for a subpar second half performance.
The Arsenal forward Jesus himself missed the few chances the visitors had to increase their lead before Stuart Armstrong tied the score for Southampton with 25 minutes remaining.
Jesus told Arsenal’s website, “Everyone is a little bit frustrated because we know we might win the game, gain the three points.
“They played well, in my opinion, but we outperformed them. We give them a lot of easy balls, but we don’t take advantage of the chances we create to score goals.”
The Brazil international emphasized the need of Arsenal maintaining composure and placing this outcome in its proper context.

“I just want to remind the players to maintain composure since this is the moment when everyone will be discussing the team and our performance.
“We’re going to bounce back strongly, play football the way we did to open the season, and everything will return to normal.
“Every now and then, you fall a little, but you have to wake up and realize it. We must take that action.
Jesus, who joined from English champions Manchester City in a $50 million (£45 million) preseason transfer, is aware that he has gone five games in all competitions without scoring.
When questioned about his goalless performance against Southampton, he replied, “I don’t know, I genuinely don’t know.
Jesus continued: “If I know, I can tell you. He currently has five goals in 14 games for the Gunners. But all I can do is keep trying, keep fighting, and keep getting better.
“I’m here to contribute to the team’s goals and to score goals for myself. I understand that. Of certainly, the goals will return soon.”
After playing PSV Eindhoven away in the Europa League match in the middle of the week, Arsenal resumes its league campaign at home against Nottingham Forest and is now two points ahead of City in second place.
