Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Monday teasing, according to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Kukah, provided more evidence that Nigerians shouldn’t kill one another over political allegiance.

On Tuesday, during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily” program, Kukah, the convener of the National Peace Committee (NPC), made this statement.

Remember when on Monday, a video showing Atiku and Tinubu giggling while inside the private terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja went viral?

Upon seeing the video, Kukah reacted by saying that, in contrast to some of their supporters, politicians do not take politics too seriously.

The national cake, which they will divide among themselves, is something for which these politicians struggle and have struggled their entire lives. Therefore, it is in the best interest of common Nigerians to be aware that voting is essential to their survival, he said.

The preacher advised his followers to use caution and prudence when criticizing one another over politics.

Despite their stunts and posturing, he continued, the supporters must also understand that these politicians are aware of who they are.

“We common folk need to learn how to control our fervor when it comes to politics. Political bluster shouldn’t be taken seriously.

“You will assume that they will never shake hands given all the things you see them doing to one another or abusing one another. They share a pool of drinks and are extremely close pals. Therefore, refrain from killing oneself needlessly. That is the main point of the message, according to Kukah.
