Nine bandits were killed in gunfights with Nigerian Army soldiers and Special Forces in several parts of Kaduna State’s Giwa local government area.
The Kaduna State government revealed that the forces cleared a bandits’ camp near a river line around Rafin Sarki and neutralized five bandits in the area while many more fled in a statement by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Thursday.
The army and Special Forces cleared a hideout in the Galadimawa forest, where four bandits were fought and neutralized, according to Aruwan, in another leg of the fierce confrontation.
According to the statement, after their kidnappers abandoned them, the forces saved more than a dozen kidnapped women and children.
Five locally built firearms, five rounds of ammo, four cartridges, a radio and charger, and a military-issued jungle helmet were all found when the combat-ready officers and soldiers cleared the camp, he continued.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai, meantime, commended the soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces for their ongoing efforts and extended his gratitude for their achievements and the successful rescue of the victims.
According to the State authorities, attacks in the named enclaves would continue all around the State.
