Pastor Umo Eno, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Akwa Ibom, has pledged to collaborate closely with locals living abroad to further the growth and industrialization of the State.
Eno encouraged Akwa Ibom natives in the diaspora to return home and contribute to the development of their state as he interfaced via zoom with his supporters in the diaspora under the auspices of Team Umo Eno Diaspora (TUED).
The Team Umo Eno Diaspora (TUED) is an umbrella organization created to concentrate all international efforts on Pastor Eno and Dr. Akon Eyakenyi’s election in 2023.
Approximately 85 people from the United States, Nigeria, Canada, Ireland, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, Spain, Scotland, and Saudi Arabia phoned into the two-hour gathering.
Eno discussed his idea for the ARISE agenda, which he claims will expand the state’s economy along the lines of entrepreneurship, industry, infrastructure development, and agriculture, among other things.
He pledged to expand on the groundwork built by earlier governments, particularly in the areas of industry and job creation, and to offer natives the benefits of democracy.
After doing a requirements analysis of the state’s 31 local government units, Eno stated during the meeting that his projects would be carried out within the first 100 days of taking office.
“I want the Diaspora in particular to be involved in the new Akwa Ibom State project. As a result, I implore as many Diasporans as possible to return home in order to support me and eventually make investments and move to Akwa Ibom State.
You have the power to persuade everyone to support the party by taking advantage of our position.
During the call, he also responded to a wide range of inquiries about issues affecting Akwa Ibomites both at home and abroad, including the herdsmen invasion in our state, the recent controversy over the 13% derivation refund to Akwa Ibom State, the Ibom Seaport, the cost of governance, Diaspora involvement and support, power generation, and the growth of our agricultural and tourism sectors. He committed to scheduling frequent meetings with Akwa Ibomites living abroad.
The TUED Global Coordinator, Ms. Linda Akon Umoh, thanked everyone for coming, spoke about upcoming projects, and then announced a meeting that will take place soon to properly handle TUED’s structure as well as other issues.
