I DID NOT CLAIM THAT OKUPE’S CONVICTION WAS THE RESULT OF A WITCH HUNT.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has disavowed a claim that has been circulating on social media.

Obi was accused of suggesting that the conviction of Mr. Doyin Okupe, the Director-General of his campaign organization, was the result of a witch hunt.

However, Obi refuted the claim in a letter to Vanguard, saying that despite his DG’s conviction, he still upholds the rule of law.

He stated that he is working to establish a nation where the rule of law prevails.

Remember that yesterday, the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court convicted Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan, to two years in prison for money laundering. Okupe has since paid the court-ordered sum of N13 million.

The office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki, allegedly gave Okupe N240 million in cash (retired).
