Femi Ogunrombi, a veteran Nollywood actor who played Papa Ajasco in the popular 1996 sitcom, has died.
On Sunday, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, a theatre practitioner, journalist, and lecturer, announced the veteran’s death on his Twitter page.
“I have just been reliably informed that Mr. Femi Ogunrombi, the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with @NATIONALTROUPE, and one time stand in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular @waleadenugaprod Comic Series ‘Papa Ajasco,’ is DEAD,” he tweeted.

“Veteran actor Femi Ogunrombi, also known as Papa Ajasco, has died. Many people use images of the first papa Ajasco, Mr Abiodun Ayoyinka, but the one who died is Mr Femi Ogunrombi, who took over the character after Mr Abiodun Ayoyinka left the show. “May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
