Tunji Wusu –

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the FCT Youth Network have congratulated Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on his appointment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

On Wednesday night, the Presidency announced the names of President Bola Tinubu’s ministers.

In a congratulatory note, the ACCI’s Director General, Victoria Akai, stated that the Chamber believed Wike’s track record of promoting economic growth in Rivers State would benefit the FCT, while also hoping that the minister would prioritize members’ challenges and welcome feedback from the private sector.

“The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry congratulates Nyesom Wike on his appointment as the new Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.” Mr. Wike’s leadership expertise and track record of encouraging economic growth and development in Rivers State will benefit the Federal Capital Territory, we feel.

“We look forward to working with him and his team to improve Abuja’s business environment, attract more investments, and facilitate trade and commerce.”

“We hope that the new minister will prioritize our members’ key priorities and challenges, such as infrastructure development, ease of doing business, security, and policy coherence.” We also encourage the minister to work with the private sector and listen to our criticism and suggestions in order to achieve mutually beneficial results.”

Similarly, Umar Mankeri, the Youth Leader of the FCT Youth Network, praised the President for naming Wike as FCT minister, saying that “he will do as he has done as governor of Rivers State.”

Mankeri, who expressed confidence in Wike’s skills and experience as a former governor and minister, encouraged the minister to investigate the challenges of population increase and young unemployment in the FCT.

“It is worth noting that we all believe you will set a new record as Minister of the FCT.” The FCT Youth Network would appreciate it if you could check into our difficulties in the FCT, which has been rising in population. Also, there is the issue of unemployment, which has resulted in poverty in our country.

According to the PUNCH, the newly nominated ministers will be sworn in by the President on Monday, August 21, 2023.
