Vice President Kashim Shettima is now sitting over the National Economic Council in the State House Council Chambers in Abuja.
The Council is made up of the governors of the federation’s 36 states, as well as ministers in charge of the Federal Capital Territory and Finance, as well as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, and others.
Today’s meeting is intended to address a variety of subjects, including the Federation’s financial situation and other general concerns; however, the most pressing issue before the Council is the deployment of palliatives aimed at mitigating the painful consequences of the elimination of gasoline subsidies.
Abdulrahman Abdulrazak (Kwara), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Inuwa Yahya (Gombe), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Dr. Alex Otti (Abia), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun) are among the governors in attendance.
Senators Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Sheriff Obrevwori (Delta), Prof. Charles Soludo (Anambra), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), and Umaru Namadi (Jigawa) are among the others.
Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Prince Bassey Otu (Cross River), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Acting Governor of Ondo State), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Ahmad Aliu (Sokoto), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Process Babagana Zulum (Borno) are also present
The gathering also includes the deputy governors of Katsina, Rivers, Yobe, Adamawa, Kano, and Kebbi.
