Babatunji Wusu –
Usman Ododo, the newly elected governor of Kogi State, and Joel Salifu, his running mate, have received Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On Friday, a massive gathering of party supporters celebrated the presentation of the certificates of return at the INEC offices in Lokoja, the state capital.
Gabriel Longpet, the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), presented the certificates and stated that the act was within the Commission’s powers.
He stated that after fulfilling the standards outlined in the constitution, Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was being given the certificate.
Shortly after being awarded his certificate, Ododo gave a speech in which he pledged to fulfill his campaign pledge to further the excellent work of Governor Yahaya Bello.
In addition, the governor-elect pledged to uphold the unity of the state and justify the trust that the people of the state have placed in him.
He thanked the State’s citizens for their resounding support throughout the election, characterizing it as a strengthening of the Kogi State’s power and cohesion.
“My administration is dedicated to maintaining the current administration’s youth and women empowerment initiatives,” he declared. My commitment to giving our swarming youths jobs and making sure that education is our administration’s top priority won’t waver.
“Everyone wins when I win the election that was held on Saturday. Everyone will be supported under our inclusive government, regardless of their political affiliation, religion, or tribe.
In an interview with media, Governor Yahaya Bello, who was present when the certificates of return were presented, asked the people of the State to work with Ododo to expand Kogi State.
“A winner has emerged after the election has come and gone,” he declared. I urge the State’s citizens to strive toward the harmony and cohesion that our government has established.
