Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, has once again responded to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding allegations of funds misappropriation. On Tuesday morning, Bello arrived at the EFCC office accompanied by his legal team. His visit comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that dismissed the challenge against the constitutionality of the EFCC.
Bello reportedly drove himself to the EFCC office in a black Hilux, alongside his lawyers. Speculation regarding his visit had circulated last week, but his media team did not comment on the matter at the time.
In related legal proceedings, the EFCC has pressed fresh charges against Bello, which were last heard on November 14 by Justice Maryanne Anenih at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. The EFCC requested an adjournment until November 27, citing the ongoing 30-day window for the summons issued earlier. The commission also granted administrative bail to Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, while seeking an extension of time for Bello to appear in court. The case was subsequently adjourned for his arraignment.
