The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior police officers. This includes 11 commissioners of police who have been elevated to the rank of assistant inspectors general of police, and 16 deputy commissioners of police promoted to the substantive rank of police commissioners.
Among the commissioners promoted are Umar Shehu Nadada (Nasarawa), Mustapha Mohammed Bala (Rivers), Abayomi Peter Oladipo (Ondo), Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke (SWAT, FCID Abuja), and Ibrahim Abdullahi (Kaduna), among others. The deputy commissioners promoted include Kayode Ojapinwa (SCID, FCT), Emmanuel Ighodalo (ZCID, Zone 8, Lokoja), and Bose Funmi Akinyemi (SEB, FCID Annex, Lagos), among others.
The promotions followed written and oral exams conducted at the PSC headquarters, a new requirement that will be implemented for all future police promotions.
