Ayodele Olawande, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, has endorsed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as a qualified candidate for the governorship of Lagos State. In an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Olawande emphasized that Seyi is not “too young” to lead the state, citing his extensive experience and commitment to empowering young Nigerians.
Olawande described Seyi as a “well-trained young man” who has supported numerous youth initiatives even before his father became president. He highlighted Seyi’s active involvement in national development and his personal dedication to fostering opportunities for young people in Nigeria.
The minister also addressed Seyi’s endorsement by the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) in November 2024, which backed him as the next governor of Lagos State. Olawande stressed that Seyi is not responsible for organizing the campaign but praised his genuine efforts to help improve the lives of young Nigerians.
While Olawande believes Seyi is highly capable of governing Lagos, he clarified that Seyi’s role is not in orchestrating his own political campaign.
