Senator Neda Celebrates Children’s Day with Heartfelt Message, Reaffirms Commitment to Education in Edo South

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world in marking this year’s Children’s Day, the Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Senator Neda Imasuen, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to children across the district and beyond. In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the day, the lawmaker applauded the resilience and determination of Nigerian children, while acknowledging the sacrifices made by their parents and guardians in supporting their growth and education.

Senator Neda described children as the bedrock of the nation’s future and emphasized the vital role education plays in shaping their development and preparing them for leadership and innovation. He expressed deep concern over the challenges faced by many families in accessing quality education but reassured constituents that meaningful steps are being taken to address these issues at the federal level.

“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate all students and children on the occasion of Children’s Day,” Senator Neda said in a recorded message. “I know it has not been easy. It’s been a rough ride, even for your parents, who continue to make sacrifices to support your education. But I want to encourage you today—stay strong, stay hopeful, and know that better days are ahead.”

The senator, a member of the National Assembly, reaffirmed the commitment of the current administration and the legislature to improving the standard of education and protecting the rights of every Nigerian child. He noted that various legislative efforts are underway to provide sustainable solutions to problems plaguing the education sector, particularly in underserved communities.

“As parliamentarians, we are doing all within our power to ensure that we put structures and policies in place that will support and enhance your educational journey. Our focus is not just on improving infrastructure, but also on addressing the quality of teaching, access to learning materials, and the overall welfare of children in schools,” he stated.

Beyond legislative efforts, Senator Neda used the opportunity to counsel children on the importance of personal discipline, focus, and moral conduct. He urged them to honor their parents and teachers, stay committed to their studies, and avoid negative influences that could derail their future.

“I encourage you to listen to your teachers and your parents. Pay attention to your education and stay away from vices those things that could lead to disappointment or bring disgrace to you or your family. If you stay focused and disciplined, the sky won’t just be your limit it will be your stepping stone,” he advised.

Senator Neda’s message struck a chord with many across the district, especially educators and parents who praised his dedication to the welfare of children and young people. Several schools in Benin City and surrounding local government areas organized special programs to mark the day, including debates, cultural displays, and lectures on child rights and responsibilities.

Children’s Day, celebrated annually on May 27 in Nigeria, serves as a reminder of the need to protect, nurture, and invest in the country’s young population. It is a day dedicated to recognizing the importance of childhood and ensuring that all children, regardless of background, are given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

As the celebrations continue, Senator Neda urged all stakeholders including government agencies, civil society, parents, and community leaders to recommit themselves to building a nation where every child can dream, learn, and grow without limitation.

“Let us work together to give our children the future they deserve. Happy Children’s Day to all our future leaders,” he concluded.
