  • Janice Turner, mother of singer Sean Kingston, was sentenced to five years in federal prison and three years of probation for her role in a 2024 wire fraud scheme exceeding $1 million.

  • Turner and Kingston were convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud for deceiving luxury vendors with fake wire payment claims to obtain high-end goods.

  • The fraud involved luxury items including nearly $500,000 in jewelry, a $160,000 luxury SUV, and significant amounts from banks and specialty retailers.

  • Turner expressed remorse in court, asking for mercy for herself and her son; Kingston is scheduled to be sentenced on August 28, 2025.

Janice Turner, aged 63, was sentenced by Federal Judge David Leibowitz after being convicted earlier this year alongside her son, Kisean Anderson (Sean Kingston), for orchestrating a wire fraud scheme from October 2023 to March 2024. They obtained over $1 million in luxury goods such as jewelry, a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, and electronics by falsely claiming to have wired payments to vendors. Investigations confirmed no payments were ever made. Turner had a prior fraud conviction from 2006 and served 18 months for bank fraud.

The pair was arrested in May 2024, with Kingston apprehended at a U.S. Army base in California and Turner taken in a police raid on a South Florida mansion. Turner’s attorney has announced plans to appeal aspects of the verdict. Restitution to victims will be determined in an upcoming hearing.

Turner tearfully apologized in court before sentencing, emphasizing that her intent was to support her son in the challenging music industry. Kingston, who broke down upon hearing the initial verdict, is set for sentencing later in August
