…Energetic forward boosts Umuahia club ahead of CAF Confederation Cup
…Misses out on Super Eagles B team for CHAN 2024
Joseph Atule is on the brink of sealing a short-term move to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors, following his decision to part ways with former club Enyimba.
Sources close to the player confirmed that Atule is finalising terms with the Umuahia-based outfit, who are preparing for their debut campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup next season under head coach Imama Amapakabo.
The 24-year-old rejected a contract extension from eight-time NPFL champions Enyimba at the close of the 2024–25 season. His exit comes after a modest but impactful season where he netted twice for the Aba Elephants in continental competitions.
Abia Warriors view the signing as a significant attacking reinforcement as they gear up for continental football for the first time in the club’s history.
Despite his club exploits, Atule was excluded from the final Super Eagles B squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), a decision that surprised some pundits considering his pace and work rate in the final third.
His switch to Abia Warriors is expected to be confirmed in the coming days as paperwork nears completion.
