• De-Advocates for Justice calls for legal action against Ibom Air
• Group condemns alleged humiliation and rights abuse of passenger Comfort Bob
• Questions legality and morality of arrest, detention, and viral nude footage
A civil rights group, De-Advocates for Justice, has called on Comfort Bob, the Ibom Air passenger whose video and nude photographs recently went viral, to sue the airline for allegedly violating her fundamental human rights to dignity.
In a statement to DAILY POST, the group’s President, Comrade Israel Joe, condemned the airline’s handling of the incident, describing it as both morally wrong and legally indefensible. He likened the company’s actions to “killing a mosquito with a sledgehammer,” stressing that charging the passenger to court and remanding her in prison amounted to outright oppression.
Joe questioned the proportionality of the punishment, asking: “What is the penalty for fighting or breaking flight traffic rules in the first place? What happens to the presumption of innocence until found guilty that would prompt a lifetime flight ban? What a lawless decision!”
The rights advocate further criticized the manner of arrest, alleging that male security personnel forcibly dragged and stripped the passenger, filmed her with exposed breasts, and posted the footage online. He argued that female police officers should have been deployed to arrest her discreetly upon landing, avoiding public humiliation.
“There are trained officers who could have handcuffed her without having to strip her naked,” Joe stated. “Where is her right as a paying customer that should have been protected?”
The group maintained that the incident should have been handled in a more professional and lawful manner, noting that in many cases, passengers simply switch to flight mode rather than turning off their devices entirely.
They concluded by urging Comfort Bob to pursue legal redress to set a precedent against such alleged abuses in the aviation industry.
