Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed reports suggesting he is positioning himself for the vice-presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Mohammed said claims linking him to the slot were speculative and unfounded.
“I am not withdrawing because I want to prepare myself for the vice presidency. Of course, if it is within the consensus of our party leaders and the presidential candidate to choose me, I am ready. But certainly, if I am not given it, I will give my maximum support to whoever emerges,” the Bauchi governor said.
Reacting to reports that the PDP was considering a joint ticket pairing him with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, stressed that no such discussions had taken place.
“I and Seyi have never discussed the issue of pairing. What we have mentioned is the issue of taking over power by the grace of God so that we can give Nigerians the opportunity of good governance in 2027 and beyond,” he stated.
Mohammed emphasized that the party’s focus remained on unity, zoning, and building a strong platform capable of returning the PDP to power in 2027.
