The Osun Youth Initiative for Good Governance (OYIGG) has condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke’s visit to Akinlalu community, describing it as a “shameful and politically motivated act” following the recent killings in the area.
In a statement signed by its National Convener, Dr. Adeyemi Akande, the group accused the Governor of politicizing a tragic situation that has thrown the people of Akinlalu into mourning.
According to the group, Adeleke’s visit on October 13, nearly two weeks after the incident, was “disgraceful and insensitive” to the plight of the victims’ families.
“Considering the state’s chief security officer visiting Akinlalu today, October 13, if Senator Fadahunsi had not sent delegations earlier, would the Governor have gone there at all?” Dr. Akande queried.
He lamented that while residents were grieving, the Governor was allegedly outside the country “enjoying himself” instead of attending to the crisis at home.
“We ask how much Governor Adeleke truly values the lives of Osun citizens. While the people of Akinlalu mourned, the Governor was abroad having a good time,” the statement added.
The youth group further alleged that the state government is aware of the whereabouts of the embattled Director-General of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Mr. Isaac Omoyele, and other suspects connected to the killings, accusing the administration of shielding them from justice.
Meanwhile, the group commended Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (OFR), representing Osun East Senatorial District, for his quick intervention and for sending delegations to the community shortly after the attack.
“We commend your timely intervention, Senator. Your action shows genuine concern for the lives of your constituents. Without your delegations, the government would still be absent,” OYIGG stated.
The group called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the killings, stressing that justice must be served without political interference.
“The world is watching. It took the Governor 13 days to visit the families of the victims. Would he delay this if they were his own children? This raises serious doubts about his sense of responsibility,” the group said.
OYIGG also expressed support for the closure of all Osun Amotekun offices, urging security authorities and lawmakers from Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District to ensure they remain sealed until Omoyele and other suspects are brought to book.
The statement, dated October 13, 2025, concluded with a call for transparency and accountability in handling the crisis, insisting that the people of Osun State deserve better leadership and protection from insecurity.
