The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged troops of Operation HADIN KAI to prepare for a decisive phase in the fight against insurgency in the North-East, declaring that the upcoming offensive will define the success of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism campaign.
Speaking on Friday while addressing soldiers in Maiduguri, Shaibu stressed that the Nigerian Army had entered a critical moment in its battle against Boko Haram and the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP). He urged the troops to approach the operation with renewed determination and confidence, assuring them of full operational support.
“You have been training to defeat the terrorists that have been disturbing the North-East. This time, you are going to do it differently. All combat enablers have been provided. New platforms have been introduced, all to ensure that you succeed,” Shaibu stated.
He emphasized that the current phase of the campaign belongs to the new generation of soldiers, encouraging them to exceed the accomplishments of those who fought in previous national and international missions.
The Army Chief’s visit and morale-boosting remarks come amid intensified military efforts to completely eradicate insurgent strongholds in the region.
