Nigerian music sensation Omah Lay has broken his silence following his first-ever Grammy nomination, expressing both excitement and humility about the milestone.
The singer, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, earned a nomination for Best African Music Performance alongside Davido for their collaborative hit, “With You,” at the upcoming 68th Grammy Awards.
Taking to Instagram, Omah Lay shared his reaction, revealing that while he was thrilled about the recognition, awards don’t define him. However, he made it clear that he genuinely wants Davido—whom he described as his “realest friend in a while”—to clinch the award.
“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah, but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while; he stood by me during my hardest times,” he wrote.
Davido, despite being one of Africa’s biggest music exports, is yet to secure a Grammy win. The Afrobeats superstar has received four nominations to date, including two consecutive nods in the same category since its introduction in 2023.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will hold on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, airing globally on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+.
