Reelected Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has celebrated his victory at the polls with gratitude and humility, pledging to deepen development efforts while extending a hand of fellowship to his opponents.
Speaking at his country home in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, Soludo applauded the people of Anambra for what he described as an overwhelming show of confidence in his leadership.
“This is a moment to say congratulations to Anambra people. Four years ago, we were elected with 112,000 votes, but this time, you spoke loudly with 73 percent of the entire votes. This is a show of solidarity and a very emphatic statement,” Soludo said.
The governor revealed that his party won in all 21 local government areas and lost only six wards out of 326, calling it “a clear mandate” to advance his development agenda.
He praised President Bola Tinubu for allowing a transparent electoral process, describing him as “a true democrat who let the will of the people prevail.” Soludo also commended the new INEC chairman for what he termed a credible outing, noting that over 99 percent of the results were uploaded by election night.
“Each election year, the process gets better in Anambra. Except for a few incidents, this was one of the freest and fairest polls we’ve witnessed,” he said.
Soludo urged his fellow contestants to join hands with him in moving the state forward. “We were 16 in the race, and obviously only one person could win. I extend a hand of leadership to my brothers — let’s work together to make Anambra better,” he appealed.
The governor, however, expressed deep sorrow over the killing of a councillor from Owerre Ezukala community, who was shot dead shortly after casting his vote.
“It is a border town, and we understand the attackers came from across the border. It was a tragic and unfair act,” Soludo lamented.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people diligently, saying his administration was “moving from gear three to gear four” in its transformation agenda.
