A fiery online exchange erupted on Tuesday between activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju and social commentator Joe Igbokwe, after a viral video showed FCT Minister Nyesom Wike confronting a naval officer who allegedly denied him access to a disputed plot of land.

The footage, which quickly dominated social media conversations, split Nigerians into opposing camps — with some defending the naval officer’s stance and others backing Wike’s authority as the Federal Capital Territory Minister.

Reacting to the saga, Igbokwe took to his verified Facebook page, calling for the dismissal of the officer, questioning who had authorized his interference in the matter.

But Adeyanju fired back, urging Igbokwe to “stop hustling for appointments,” adding a jab that “doing media aide in old age is actually crazy.”

His post read:

“Dear Joe Igbokwe, appointment is finished already. Stop the hustling except you want to replace this cameraman. Doing media aide in old age is actually crazy. Old data boys.”

Unfazed, Igbokwe stormed Adeyanju’s comment section to clap back, warning him to “know his place” and insisting he was not seeking political favors.

He replied:

“Deji, you do not know me and I do not know you. The only thing I know about you is that you are an emergency activist. I have been a well-made man for over 30 years.

I started activism at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in the 80s — over 40 years ago. Young man, I am not looking for anything from anybody. I am not your mate. Ignorance is a terrible disease. Check my background, ask questions, read my five books and you will know me. A good product sells itself.”

The verbal brawl between the two public figures added a dramatic twist to an already heated debate over the Wike–Naval officer confrontation that has gripped the online community.
