Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey and pastor Jerry Eze have intensified calls for urgent government action as insecurity escalates across Nigeria. The religious leaders urged authorities to confront terrorism, banditry, and widespread kidnappings destabilising communities nationwide.

Pastor Eze, in a Wednesday social media post, invoked divine judgment on those sponsoring and carrying out violent crimes. “About time, God of judgement spares no enemy of Nigeria and their sponsors in Jesus’ name. Enough is enough of this banditry, terrorism, and wickedness,” he declared.

Bassey echoed the alarm, stressing the need for accountability and firm action from security agencies. He urged the government, armed forces, intelligence services, and citizens to unite against criminal networks. “Peace shall reign in Nigeria. Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen,” he wrote.

Their appeal follows a string of violent attacks, including an assault on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, where suspected bandits killed at least two worshippers. In Kebbi State, gunmen abducted 25 students of Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, and killed a staff member during the raid.

The surge in violence has triggered widespread outrage, with celebrities—actors, comedians, and other entertainers—joining the chorus demanding immediate intervention from government and security agencies.
