The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has launched an aggressive nationwide mobilisation effort, directing its state executives to recruit politically credible and high-capacity individuals ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, announced the directive in Lagos on Friday, stressing that the party must rebuild its structure and reinforce its membership base after years of internal disputes.
Aniebonam ordered state chapters to activate fresh membership registration and update their existing registers, insisting that only politicians with verifiable records, integrity, and honour would be admitted.
He acknowledged that the prolonged leadership battle between the NNPP and the Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso-led Kwankwasiyya Movement had undermined the party’s focus and electoral participation.
“Our time was so taken in the leadership tussle. The attempts to hijack the NNPP led to litigation that affected our ability to participate in elections,” he said. “Now that we are almost done with the issues involved, all hands must be on deck to advance the NNPP’s objective of enthroning good governance in Nigeria.”
Aniebonam urged members unwilling to uphold the party’s ideals to exit freely, noting that the NNPP holds no grudges against defectors. He added that the party had forgiven former members whose actions led to internal crises, emphasizing that the NNPP remains focused on rebuilding.
“As mortals, we must forgive our former members despite their betrayals,” he said. “Victory shall be ours, and we believe everything will be alright shortly.”
He affirmed that he had moved on from past grievances, stating that he bears no ill will toward Kwankwaso or Elder Buba Galadima.
