  • Clement Jimbo doubts former presidential candidate’s electoral prospects
  • Argues elections are decided by numbers and grassroots support
  • Criticizes Obi’s strategy of moving across party platforms

A member of the House of Representatives, Clement Jimbo, has expressed skepticism about former presidential candidate Peter Obi’s chances of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming he lacks the political structure and numerical support required.

Speaking on Nigeria’s democratic process, Jimbo emphasized that elections are “government of the people, by the people, and for the people,” determined by majority votes. He questioned how Obi could contemplate unseating the APC without first establishing strong grassroots backing.

Jimbo criticized Obi’s approach of switching party platforms instead of building a solid political base, saying, “You must sit down and build your house,” and warned that such a strategy would not result in victory. He added, “Peter Obi cannot win election…he will not win his polling unit. Mark my word.”

The lawmaker concluded that without a loyal voter base and established political machinery, defeating the APC remains unrealistic.
