Veteran Actor Patrick Doyle and Wife Funmilayo Mourn the Loss of Their Newborn Daughter

The Nigerian entertainment community is rallying around veteran Nollywood actor and seasoned broadcaster Patrick Doyle and his wife, Funmilayo Doyle, following the heartbreaking news of the passing of their newborn daughter. The couple, who had only just welcomed the child into the world, confirmed that the infant passed away just hours after her birth.

In a deeply moving statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday evening, Doyle revealed that their daughter, named Omayinuwa Mayen Harriet Doyle, arrived on Friday, April 10, at approximately 10:40 am. However, her time with the family was tragically short, as she returned to heaven the following day, Saturday, April 11, at about 4:15 pm. Despite the brevity of her stay, the actor noted that her presence brought immense happiness to their home.

Before the tragic turn of events, Patrick Doyle had joyfully announced the arrival of the baby, whom he described as a “precious addition” to the family. His initial messages were filled with gratitude and celebration, making the subsequent news even more poignant for fans and colleagues alike.

Even in the face of such a profound personal loss, the veteran broadcaster maintained a posture of spiritual strength and resolute faith. He expressed that while they would have wished for a longer time with Omayinuwa, they accept the outcome with grace. Quoting the Yoruba phrase “Sibe’ sibe’ Oluwa n’be’” (Regardless, God remains), he reassured his followers that his trust in God’s goodness is unshaken and that it remains well with his soul. The news has triggered an outpouring of condolences across social media for the grieving family.
