The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has forcefully debunked a viral video circulating online, describing it as a malicious fabrication designed to deceive the public.

In a strongly worded statement issued by its Head of Media and Public Communication, J. Okor Odey, the Commission declared that the visuals, names, and allegations contained in the video were entirely false, with some elements allegedly generated using artificial intelligence to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians.

The anti-corruption agency categorically denied claims in the video suggesting the existence of a N50 billion bribery scandal, stressing that no such case exists in its records.

“To clarify, the ICPC is not investigating any individual, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, group of lawyers, or judicial officer in connection with the fictitious N50 billion bribe mentioned in the video,” the statement read.

The Commission further emphasized that it had not issued any report or statement backing the claims and urged the public to disregard the misleading content in its entirety.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and due process, the ICPC stated that all its investigations are evidence-based and conducted strictly within the confines of the law.

It also issued a stern warning to those behind the video, demanding an immediate halt to the spread of false information.

“The ICPC will not allow its name and institutional integrity to be exploited to spread disinformation under the guise of content creation,” the statement added.

The Commission vowed to track down and prosecute individuals responsible for creating and disseminating the fake video, warning that they would face serious legal consequences once apprehended.
