The Accord Party has forcefully disowned and disassociated itself from a reported coalition meeting of 14 political parties held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where participants allegedly agreed to field a single presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, the party denied any involvement, insisting it neither attended the meeting nor authorised any representative to speak or act on its behalf.

Accord stressed that it was not aware of the political summit, describing its inclusion among the participating parties as “imprudent and unjust.”

“It is imprudent and unjust to include a political party in a coalition it was not a part of,” the statement declared.

The party condemned the organisers, accusing them of recklessly listing its name among parties that allegedly endorsed the resolution to present a joint presidential candidate in 2027.

Accord further warned political actors against escalating tension in the political space, urging restraint as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

“Political parties are free to form a coalition that will produce a joint presidential candidate, but such arrangement must be restricted strictly to willing participants,” it stated.

The party described the development as embarrassing and demanded that its name be immediately removed from all coalition records.

Reaffirming its political direction, Accord said it remains focused on winning the upcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States, as well as strengthening its strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The party is focused on winning the Ekiti and Osun governorship polls, preparing for the 2027 general election, and will not be distracted by the intrigues of anti-democratic forces,” the statement added.

Accord also called on Nigerians to remain united, urging citizens to work in “one accord” to build a stronger democratic future for the country.
