A Sharia Court sitting at Kofar Kudu in Kano has sentenced a woman, Hassana Abdul, to five months of community service for trespass and assault.

The court, presided over by Judge Shamsudden Ado Abdullahi, found the defendant guilty after she admitted entering another woman’s home without permission and attacking her following a disagreement involving the complainant and one of the defendant’s friends.

The complainant later reported the incident to the police, leading to Abdul’s arrest and prosecution.

When the charges were read in court, the defendant pleaded guilty to the offences.

Following her guilty plea, the judge ordered Abdul to clean an Islamiyya school in her neighbourhood for five months as community service.

The court also gave her the option of paying a fine of N20,000 or serving a five-month prison sentence.
