The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Bashiru, has said the party is yet to issue any official report from its screening committee amid questions surrounding whether Siminalayi Fubara has been screened.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday, Bashiru explained that appearing before the APC screening committee forms part of the party’s internal process and insisted that no conclusions should be drawn until the committee completes its assignment.
“I don’t know what you mean by screening. It appears that anybody that appears before the APC screening committee, of course, it is necessary as part of the process,” he said.
Bashiru noted that the committee would only compile and release its report after meeting all individuals expected to appear before it.
“After appearing before the screening committee, the screening committee will issue its report. As at now, when it has seen everyone it is supposed to see, we will now sit down and come up with the report of the screening committee,” he added.
The APC National Secretary further stressed that no official outcome has been announced by the committee.
“As at now, there is no report of screening,” Bashiru stated.
The comments come amid growing political speculation over Governor Fubara’s relationship with the ruling party and ongoing political developments in Rivers State.
