Angel Lawson: A New Vision for Rivers State campaign message

|By Adejumo Adekunle – Angel Lawson: A New Vision for Rivers State is gaining attention as the Action Democratic Party’s governorship candidate sets out his agenda for the 2027 election. He argues that Rivers State can achieve more through transparent leadership, accountable governance and people-focused policies.

Born in Buguma and educated in Rivers State, Lawson says his understanding of local challenges comes from lived experience. However, he also points to more than two decades of international work across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. During that period, he worked with organisations including Deloitte, Capgemini and AFRY, advising on finance, governance, technology and institutional reform.

Consequently, Lawson believes Rivers State must move away from what he describes as politics as usual. His campaign focuses on job creation, quality education, accessible healthcare, improved security and greater opportunities for young people and women.

Through the Rivers Transformation Initiative, he has repeatedly called for responsible public spending, merit-based appointments and stronger citizen participation in government. He also advocates technology-driven governance to improve service delivery and strengthen accountability.

As the 2027 governorship election approaches, Angel Lawson: A New Vision for Rivers State presents a message centred on competence, integrity and service. He says public resources should work for citizens and that government must focus on reducing poverty through deliberate policies rather than promises.

Ultimately, Lawson is asking Rivers people to support a vision built around a stronger, safer and more prosperous state. Angel Lawson: A New Vision for Rivers State remains the central theme of his campaign as he seeks to convince voters that meaningful transformation is possible.
