NYSC postpones 2026 Batch B Stream I Service Year in Niger State orientation programme

|By Chinwendu Nwani – NYSC postpones 2026 Batch B Stream I Service Year in Niger State after authorities suspended orientation activities due to ongoing repairs at the state’s orientation camp.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) announced that Prospective Corps Members deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Service Year should no longer proceed to the orientation camp until further notice.

In a statement signed by Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, the scheme said the postponement became necessary because the NYSC Orientation Camp in Paiko suffered extensive damage during a recent windstorm.

As a result, the Niger State Government has begun renovation work on the facility to restore it to a suitable condition for camp activities.

Meanwhile, NYSC management said it is urgently seeking an alternative venue to host the orientation course. The agency added that it would communicate a new commencement date and other important details to affected corps members once arrangements are completed.

Furthermore, the organisation expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the development. It also thanked prospective corps members and their families for their patience, understanding and cooperation.

The decision means affected participants must wait for further directives before travelling for the programme.
