By Babatunji Wusu| The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State, citing ongoing renovation work at the orientation camp.

In a notice shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the scheme said the decision was necessary due to rehabilitation activities currently taking place at the camp facility.

“This is to notify the General Public and Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their Orientation Course Exercise is suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the Orientation Camp,” the statement read.

It added that affected prospective corps members would be contacted on short notice regarding new dates and alternative arrangements for the exercise.

“PCMs affected should note that they will be contacted at a short notice on where and when to report for their Orientation Course. The Management regrets all inconveniences to the affected PCMs and their parents,” it stated.

The NYSC orientation suspension in Niger State is the latest in a series of disruptions linked to infrastructure challenges across some orientation camps in the country. Earlier in 2026, a severe windstorm damaged key facilities at the Niger State camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area, affecting hostels, the multi-purpose hall, kitchen and staff quarters.

Following that incident, the state government directed immediate repair works to restore the facility. Similar postponements due to renovation and maintenance activities were also recorded in states such as Enugu and Osun earlier in the year.

The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise officially began on June 10, 2026, and was originally scheduled to run until June 30 nationwide.
