Linda Noskova secured her first grass-court title after defeating Jessica Pegula 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the Berlin Open final on Sunday. The Czech star delivered a composed performance to claim her second WTA singles title and cap off an impressive week in Germany.

The eighth seed made a strong start and took control of the opening set after converting her third break-point chance. Although Pegula, the 2024 champion, responded well in a tightly fought second set to level the contest, Linda Noskova stayed focused when it mattered most.

In the deciding set, Linda Noskova earned an early break and never looked back. She controlled the key moments and finished the match confidently to lift the trophy. The victory marks a significant milestone for the 20-year-old, who now looks set to enter the world’s top 10 rankings for the first time.

Speaking after her victory, Noskova praised her opponent and reflected on her achievement. “Wow what a week. Obviously I want to congratulate Jessie. You’re incredible and a ‌very tricky player to play on whatever surface. It was really tough to play you in the final,” Noskova said.

She then joked about the prize she had just won, saying, ““I don’t know where I’m gonna ‌put this trophy, it’s too heavy!”

For Jessica Pegula, the result ended her bid to win the Berlin Open for the second time in three editions. The American had reached the final after a notable semi-final victory over world number one Aryna Sabalenka, but she could not overcome Linda Noskova in the title match.

The final also faced disruption due to extreme weather. Officials delayed play and evacuated spectators before resuming the match. Organisers later issued an apology after criticism emerged regarding staff conduct during the evacuation process.
