Nigeria Democratic Congress leaders address supporters after court ruling

Nigeria Democratic Congress has insisted its candidates will appear on the ballot for the 2027 general election despite a fresh court ruling affecting the party’s registration. The Nigeria Democratic Congress said supporters should remain confident as it prepares for the polls.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, National Secretary Ikenna Enekweizu argued that Friday’s Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja was timed to disrupt the party’s preparations. However, he said the party would still collect its INEC candidate-upload codes and submit its candidates.

Furthermore, Enekweizu expressed confidence that the Nigeria Democratic Congress would contest and win the election, claiming many Nigerians were dissatisfied with hunger, insecurity and poor governance. The court had earlier set aside a previous judgment directing INEC to register the party.
