Dangote Petroleum Refinery has started a free delivery programme for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly called petrol or fuel, across six locations in Nigeria while maintaining its ₦1,075 per litre ex-depot price.
The Dangote Refinery petrol initiative covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Delta states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The company announced the move through a notice shared on its official 𝕏 handle on Wednesday.
According to the refinery, customers who purchase at least 250,000 litres of petrol can benefit from the free delivery service. The company said the initiative will help reduce transportation expenses for eligible buyers in the selected locations.
The Dangote Refinery petrol initiative comes shortly after the company met with key players in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector to discuss a cost-reflective approach to petrol pricing. During the meeting, stakeholders supported further reductions in the cost of the product.
Recently, Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced its fourth reduction in the gantry price of petrol, lowering the ex-depot price to ₦1,075 per litre. The latest move is expected to provide additional relief by cutting logistics costs for qualified customers.
The Dangote Refinery petrol initiative also follows comments from Abubakar Maigandi, President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), who stated that petrol prices had dropped by ₦125 per litre within three weeks.
Maigandi explained that pump prices now range from ₦1,155 to ₦1,299 per litre, depending on the location and the marketer selling the product.
The changes highlight ongoing developments in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, as industry stakeholders continue discussions around petrol pricing, supply, and distribution costs nationwide.
Do you think measures that reduce distribution costs can lead to more affordable petrol prices for Nigerians?
